TOTAL FIRE BAN FOR KINGLAKE RANGES

Friday,  January 19, 2018 has been declared a day of TOTAL FIRE BAN in the Mallee, Wimmera, South West, North Central and Central (includes Melbourne and Geelong) district(s) of Victoria. (Kinglake and surrounds are in the North Central and Central Fire Ban Districts)

No fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 until 11:59 PM Friday, January 19, 2018.

State Duty Officer James Dullard said Friday’s hot, dry and windy conditions could make it difficult for firefighters to supress a fire should one start.

“We are asking people to heed the total fire ban conditions and understand that it is illegal to light a fire or allow a fire to remain lit in the open air during a total fire ban.”

“People need to be aware of the increased fire danger and ensure your fire plan covers all possible contingencies,” Dullard said.

TFBs mean no fire can be lit in the open air or allowed to remain alight from 12.01am to 11.59pm on the day of the Total Fire Ban. Tractors, chainsaws and mowers should be used only if absolutely necessary.
