Protecting people’s information is the ‘most important thing Facebook does,’ Mark Zuckerberg stated after suspending Facebook’s developer tools following ‘a crack down on platform abuse.’
Cambridge Analytica breached the trust people place in Facebook to protect their data, Zuckerberg said.
Zuckerberg then explained in a post that Facebook “will announce important steps for the future of our platform.”
“[We’ll be] taking action on potential past abuse and putting stronger protections in place to prevent future abuse,” Zuckerberg said.
As people used Facebook in new ways, according to Zuckerberg, they strengthened the rules requiring developers get permission before accessing user data needed to run their apps.
Following recent changes, Facebook still sees abuse and the misuse of people’s data.
“We have a responsibility to everyone who uses Facebook to make sure their privacy is protected,” Zuckerberg said.
