City police are appealing for public assistance after two handbags worth $6000 each were stolen from a store in Collins Street.

Investigators have been told two men were walking along Collins Street about 4pm on 29 October.

The pair walked into a boutique and grabbed two Celine handbags before running from the store and down George Parade.
