36yo Croydon man arrested for possessing handgun

Detectives from Frankston Crime Investigation Unit in collaboration with Maroondah CIU have arrested a 36-year-old man, seizing cash and drugs as part of an ongoing investigation.


The man was arrested after police were called to a disturbance at an address in Canterbury Road, Ringwood about 2:15am.

The Croydon man will now be interviewed in relation to an incident in Frankston where an allegedly stolen vehicle was spotted by police on Foot Street, Frankston about 12:30am on 28 August.

Police later located the car at a residence on Oxford Street, Frankston where police allege a quantity of drugs, a firearm and ammunition were located.

The alleged offender is expected to be charged with 38 offences including:

• possess a handgun;
• carry a loaded handgun;
• carry loaded firearm populous place;
• ammunition offences;
• 2 counts of traffick a drug of dependence;
• possess trafficable quantity methyl-amphetamines;
• 2 counts of possessing proceeds of crime;
• 2 counts of reckless conduct;
• 2 counts of evade police; and
• breach CHO directions and related offences.
