Change has been in the air for some time at Murrindindi Shire Council, following the appointment of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Craig Lloyd earlier this year.
Council CEO Craig Lloyd said we [council] have been taking steps to move the organisation in a new direction to ensure we can continue the journey of improving our service delivery to our community.
“Together Councillors and Council officers recognised the need for internal change in order for us to meet the needs of the community we exist to serve,” Lloyd said.
“We understand that our community wants Council to continue to improve, and in some cases increase the range of services it offers while keeping rates as low as possible. To do this, we need to innovate. And that’s just what has been happening behind the scenes.
“You might have heard about some of our new initiatives which are beginning to change the way Council and the community talk to each other and get things done.
“From our ‘Customer First Project’ to working with our neighbouring councils to share resources to our recent organisational restructure.
“Our future focus is on community engagement, collaborative leadership, the empowerment of staff and innovative service delivery.
“To advance these goals, we had to reimagine what our organisation would look like. Murrindindi Shire Council’s staff and leadership team have worked together to redesign the workflow in a way that can truly minimise bureaucracy and ensure we are delivering the services our communities need.
“Happily, we have moved to this new organisational structure without changing the number of staff.
“Sometimes change is hard though, and this change has seen the retirement of a long term manager from Murrindindi Shire Council. Other vacancies have been restructured into new roles.
“But that has opened the door for us to engage some new talent. We’re very excited to be advertising for several roles over the next couple of weeks – a Director Community Engagement, a Manager Business Services, a Manager Community Assets and a Manager Governance and Risk.
“Each of these roles involves leading technically accomplished and committed teams who are focused on delivering the best services to our local community,” Lloyd said.
“We look forward to finding the right leaders to help shape and deliver our big plans,”
