A man has been injured during a police shooting in Waurn Ponds overnight.

Police attended a residential address on Willesden Drive after receiving a noise complaint just before midnight on 26 August.

Upon arrival, it is alleged police were confronted by a man armed with a tool.

The male allegedly charged at police before a police officer discharged their firearm, shooting the man in the lower body.

The 46-year-old man was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
